Katya Pogudina

Founder of The Village

Russian born Katya grew up in the UK before relocating to Dublin with her husband Ilya in the Spring of 2014.

Katya holds a BA in Economics and Management from the University of Oxford and an MA in Finance, Energy and Trading from Cass Business School, City University of London.  She spent the early years of her career working in broking and financial services in the City of London before kicking off her stilettos and embracing Converse and motherhood.

Today she is a mother to Maria (24 months) and is expecting her second child in September. In her spare time she enjoys yoga, cooking and visiting art galleries.

Inspiration for NannyVillage.ie:

“Inspiration for the website stems from my own experience of relocating from London to Dublin with a young family. Nanny Village offers its users in one place all the information that I wish had been there for me when my family and I first moved to this wonderful city.

I was initially struggling to find a good nanny; having posted what I thought was a very precise candidate description on Gumtree, my inbox was flooded with numerous applications, the majority of which had very little relevant experience. It was a very long and frustrating process. Surely there had to be an easier way of finding the perfect person, preferably without having to spend hundreds of Euros in agency fees?!

My husband is lucky to come from a large Irish family. Most of his relatives live in and around Dublin so they made us feel very welcome.  Unfortunately no one in his family has young children so they could not advise us on all the fantastic child friendly activities the city has to offer.

By creating the Village I wanted to give parents a place where they could interact with other parents, solve their child care requirements and stay on top of baby trends and activities in Dublin.”

Ilya Lee-Paveliev

Chief Technology Officer

Ilya was born in Vladivostok, on the banks of the Pacific Ocean.  He first arrived in Dublin in 1999 and enrolled into the St Conleth’s College. Ilya graduated in 2006 with a gold medal for his academic achievements and went on to read a BA in Business, Economics and Social Studies at The Trinity College, Dublin. During his first term he earned his village stars by becoming a regular at Coppers. Due to a clerical error Ilya was awarded a scholarship for his achievements in Economics and Social Studies.

Upon graduation he moved to London to pursue a career in investment banking. He chose his first employer by their proximity to the Hawaiian themed nightclub Mahiki. In 2013 Ilya joined his father at Adrian Lee & Partners and later relocated back to Dublin for work and family commitments.

Today he is a father of two beautiful girls, Maria (24 months) and Kona (5 months). Kona is a golden Labrador.

Ilya’s hobbies include sailing, shooting, talking about Hawaii and most recently dog training.
