After many months of preparation we have finally made it to the Gymboree Play and Learn class in Spawell, and what a shame we did not get here sooner.
The Play and Learn classes are fun, dynamic sessions where your little one spends 55mins in the specially designed soft play gym area. Expect to move around a lot during the session; this may be running, crawling, dancing or climbing up and down multiple Gymboree props that one day turn into an airplane, and the next into a boat or a spaceship. The fantasy and enthusiasm of the Gymboree class leader are limitless. They make each child feel special and try to connect with you even if it is your very first session.
The class starts and ends with the Gymboree classics: “I am so glad you came” welcoming song, parachute time and of course bubbles. Play and Learn programme has 7 levels and you progress to the new stage as your little one gets older, however should you wish to stay in a certain class for an extra month that’s no problem as the programme is designed to support each child’s individual growth pace.
Play and Learn sessions nurture confidence, curiosity and physical skill. From sensory stimulation to problem-solving games and storytelling, classes use play-based activities to stretch the body and the mind. Learning while playing is a fantastic combination that leaves both children and parents very happy.
Nanny Village took some time getting here as we were dreading going down the M50, looking for directions and then dealing with parking. We should not have worried; the centre is easily accessible and has a large and free car park. The building hosting Gymboree feels very dated and the first floor climb is not ideal, however you do forget all about it once you are inside the play area. If you love the class as much as we did it makes sense to go for the membership option, or alternatively you may stick to the weekend drop in sessions. Whichever option you chose you are guaranteed to have fun.
