Original Stocking Fillers

It has to be said, that sometimes the most stylish are the hardest to buy for. How to choose something they will genuinely enjoy adding to their coveted collection, as opposed to something they will end up silently donating to charity in the New Year? Our advice: if in doubt, go niche. Something unusual is quite often admired for the fact that it’s a little bit different. With this in mind, take a look at some of our suggestions for stylish stocking fillers this season. And they all have the lovely added bonus of being Irish made.

Dusty Boy Designs

Despite their name, these paper products are polished to prettiness, and are fit for any style icon in your life. Their collection includes greeting cards, stationery, and desk accessories, but we particularly love their notebooks. The printed covers add a healthy dose of cool for any note taking needs. They come in A5 size, with 64 blank pages and a linen printed cover. Our favourites are the Zebra and Swashes designs.

Irish Design Shop

Designers Laura Caffrey and Clare Grennan, know a thing or two about choosing gifts – they decide on what they will stock for the Christmas collection at Irish Design Shop, on Drury Street. A browse through their findings confirms one thing: they have impeccable taste. You could pick something with your eyes closed, and chances are it would delight the recipient. We found ourselves becoming quite attached to some geometric felt coasters. Created especially for the store, by Alljoy Design in Phibsboro, they are described as festive. Although, we think they are stylish enough to be used all year round.

Jessica Tobin, Street Artist

Visitors to The Bernard Shaw pub on Bridge Street may recognise Tobin’s tongue-in-cheek designs, from their display at the bar. Luckily, they can adorn the walls of any chic home too, thanks the folks at jamartprints.com. A range of Tobin’s work can be bought on the site, but we love her version of this typically Dublin catchphrase. Show us the stylish bathroom that would feel complete without such a compliment! At slightly larger than A3, this signed digital print is one of only 15 copies, from the artists’ first solo exhibition On Me Tod.
